Reb Brown
Also Known As Name: Rebby, Mr. Brown
Age: Ancient and eternalHobbies: Sleeping, meowing loudly, sitting on laps.
Rebby was the village tom cat in our old village, and lived in a barn across the main road. He turned up one day after we had moved in, demanding food and fuss. He had a tick, fleas and a dodgy eye so we cleaned him up and sent him on his way. He was back a few months later, in the same condition but with a bleeding ear. We took him to the vet who said he’d lost a fight and would keep losing fights until he died. It was clear he didn’t have an owner so he moved in with us.
He's named after the actor Reb Brown, who is also a massive chunkhead.
Reb is a lap cap. Aggressively so. He will sit on anyone’s lap. Including (but not limited to) midwives, health visitors, police officers and paramedics, doctors and social workers.
He is my half a cat. While he is legally my cat, and on occasion does live at my house, he spends most of his time at the care home across the lane from my house. They have the heating on max for nine months of the year, feed him four or five times a day and are all elderly. I feed him twice a day and have small children. I cannot compete.
He’s much loved there, so we accept that he’s half their cat now. We just make sure he’s had his flea treatment and trim his nails.
